For nuclear energy to remain pertinent in the future energy system it must effectively be integrated into energy markets and grids systems that recognise and reward low carbon energy generation. With this necessity in mind, the Global Forum on Nuclear Education Council of Advisors suggested a working area focused on how to integrate conventional power generation, next-generation advanced modular (small and micro) reactors, and nuclear electricity and heat (as applied to energy vectors) into energy markets and appropriate grid systems.
