ECTHOR Loop Seal (Air/Water) (SET facility)

CCVM Key:
3.16
Country:
France
Organization:
CEA - Commissariat à l'énergie atomique
Operating years:
-
Reference reactor:
Westinghouse PWR ;; FRAMATOME PWR
Availability:
Objectives:
To derive correlations for the two-phase flow modeling in the CATHARE code. Basic investigations are the flow phenomena (stratification, countercurrent flow) mainly in horizontal pipes (hot leg and pump seal) under conditions of small break LOCAs.

Experimental conditions

Test details:

Performance 1. - Introduction of water into the U-tube up to a certain level - Start of the blower and introduction of a defined air flow rate. - Start of data acquisition - Waiting until variations of the resulting flow pattern are diminished - Blower turnoff and performance of measurements Performance 2. - Start of the blower and establishing a defined air flow rate. - Introduction of water at the bottom of the horizontal U-tube section until water entrainment is observed. - Waiting until the entrainment stops. - Measurement of data. - Blower turnoff and conductance of further measurements.
